Who is responsible?

CookWatt is developed and provided by Andy Doyle, who is responsible for the handling of information described in this policy. For privacy questions, contact apps@andydoyle.org.

Information handled by the app

CookWatt performs cooking-time calculations on your device. It does not send the cooking times you enter, selected wattages, calculated results, or saved preferences to Andy Doyle or an app-operated server.

The app saves your microwave’s output wattage, rounding preference, and theme preference locally so you do not have to set them again. It does not maintain a cooking-history database. There are no user accounts, advertising SDKs, or in-app analytics services.

Local storage and device backups

You can change your saved preferences in Settings. Deleting the app, rather than offloading it, removes its local app data from that device. Your iPhone’s backup and restore features may retain or restore app data according to your Apple settings. CookWatt does not operate a separate cloud-sync or backup service.

If you contact support

If you email apps@andydoyle.org, the information you choose to provide may include your email address, name, message, device details, or screenshots. This information is used to respond to your enquiry, troubleshoot problems, and address feedback. It is not used for advertising or sold.

Correspondence is handled through the email service used for support and is kept only as long as reasonably needed to handle the enquiry, related follow-up, and any applicable legal obligations. You can request deletion by emailing the same address, subject to any legal requirements to retain information.

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, support correspondence is handled for the legitimate interest of providing user support and improving the app, or to comply with applicable legal obligations.

This support website

This website has no analytics scripts, advertising, contact forms, or cookies set by the site’s code. Fonts and images are served with the site; no third-party font or analytics services are embedded.

The website is hosted by GitHub Pages. GitHub may process technical information such as your IP address and request logs to operate and secure its service. This is separate from the CookWatt app’s local calculations. Read the GitHub General Privacy Statement for information about GitHub’s processing.

Apple services and diagnostics

Downloading the app, making device backups, and optionally sharing diagnostics with Apple are governed by your Apple settings and Apple’s policies. Apple may make app diagnostic reports available to developers when you choose to share them. CookWatt does not include its own crash-reporting or analytics service. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, to restrict or object to processing, or to complain to a relevant data-protection authority. To make a request about information held by Andy Doyle, email apps@andydoyle.org.

The developer cannot access or retrieve preferences stored only in your app. Use the app’s Settings to change them or delete the app to remove its local data.

Children’s privacy

CookWatt does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app. If you believe a child has provided personal information in a support enquiry, please contact apps@andydoyle.org so it can be addressed.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated if the app or its data-handling practices change. The current version will be published on this page with an updated date.
